Linear Algebra for Informatics by José Figueroa-O'Farrill
About this book :-
This text is a concise set of lecture notes made for computer science students. It gives an introduction to coding theory, especially binary linear codes. The text cover real and complex vector spaces and linear maps, bases, matrices, inner products, eigenvalues and eigenvectors.
It start from the familiar setting in two dimensions and introduce the necessary formalism to be able to work with vectors in an arbitrary number of dimensions. Chapters ended with a physical application: the study of normal modes of an oscillatory system. This text is divided into three parts. During the first part it will study real vector spaces and their linear maps. The second part will be devoted to univariate polynomials. The third and final part will serve as an introduction to algebraic coding theory, concentrating for definiteness on binary linear codes.
