Charles Davies
was a prominent American mathematician and educator. He was Born in Washington, Connecticut, he graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1815. After serving briefly in the Army, he returned to West Point as a mathematics professor in 1816, where he taught until 1837. Davies authored over 40 textbooks, including Elements of Analytical Geometry, which became a standard reference in American education.
