About this book :-
This book is produced from digital images created through the University of Michigan University Library's preservation reformatting program. The aim of this book is to present in a unified manner the more fundamental aspects of finite groups and their applications, and at the same time to preserve the advantage which arises when each branch of an extensive subject is written by one who has long specialized in that branch. The book presents in a unified manner the more fundamental aspects of finite groups and their applications, and at the same time preserves the advantage which arises when each branch of an extensive subject is written by a specialist in that branch.

About Author :-
The author
George Abram Miller
(1863 - 1951) an American mathematician who worked mostly on group theory but he was also interested in the history of mathematics. He received his degrees of Bachelor of Arts (1887) and Master of Arts (1890) from Muhlenburg College, and of Doctor of Philosophy (1892) from Cumberland University. He start his career as Professor of Mathematics (1888-1893) at Eureka College, Instructor at the University of Michigan (1893-1895) and Cornell University (1897-1901). He joined as Assistant and Associate Professor at Leland Stanford University (1901-1906). He become Associate Professor, Professor, and Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois (1906-1951). Miller worked mostly on group theory but he was also interested in the history of mathematics. Although interesting because it was done at an early stage, his work fails to show much depth. He wrote more than 800 articles over a period of 40 years about half at research level, the others aimed at school teachers. His collected works appear in five volumes.
