The author
Dr. W. Keith Nicholson
is a Canadian mathematician and professor at the University of Calgary known for his contributions to "linear algebra", focusing on clear explanations of "matrices" and "vector spaces". He earned his undergraduate Degree in Applied Mathematics at the University of Alberta, and received his Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1970. He become professor at Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Calgary since 1979. His area of research interest is Ring Theory, Abstract Algebra and Linear Algebra. He also created internet tutorial for Linear Algebra called ILAW (Interactive Linear Algebra on the Web). He authored Linear Algebra with Applications, a widely used textbook that connects theory with real-world applications. The book supports learning in "linear algebra", offering structured explanations and examples for students in mathematics, engineering, and computational sciences. It remains a valuable resource for understanding algebraic problem solving and mathematical modeling.
