Complex and Adaptive Dynamical Systems: A Primer by Claudius Gros

About this book :-
"Complex and Adaptive Dynamical Systems: A Primer" by "Claudius Gros" is a clear and accessible introduction to the science of complex systems, written for students and researchers in physics, mathematics, biology, and interdisciplinary fields. The book explains how rich, collective behavior can emerge from simple interacting components, using intuitive explanations supported by solid mathematical foundations. It is especially suitable for readers who want to understand complexity without being overwhelmed by excessive formalism. The text covers core ideas such as "complex systems", "dynamical systems", "chaos theory", "network theory", and "self-organization". Topics include small-world and scale-free networks, nonlinear dynamics, bifurcations, diffusion, synchronization, information theory, and adaptive processes. Gros gradually builds concepts from basic principles to more advanced applications, helping readers connect theory with real-world systems like biological networks, neural systems, and social dynamics. Each chapter includes exercises and references for further study, making the book well suited for both classroom use and self-learning. With its balanced mix of theory, examples, and applications, this primer offers a strong foundation for anyone interested in understanding how complexity arises and evolves in natural and artificial systems.
