What You Will Learn in Plane and Solid Analytic Geometry

The book Plane and Solid Analytic Geometry by W. F. Osgood, W. C. Graustein is a classic college-level textbook that explains how to use algebra and coordinates to study geometric shapes in both 2D and 3D. It talks about lines, circles, curves, and 3D objects like spheres and cones with clear explanations and practical examples. It also includes clear steps, many examples and exercises to help students build problem-solving skills. The object of an elementary college/high school course in Analytic Geometry is is to acquaint the student with new and important geometrical material, and to provide him with powerful tools for the study of geometry and pure mathematics, physics and engineering. This book is still a useful book for learning geometry in a simple, logical way.

About the Author: William Fogg Osgood

The author William Fogg Osgood was professors of math at Harvard University. Osgood was known for his work in calculus and complex analysis and was active in math organizations and journals. William Caspar Graustein was also professors of math at Harvard University. Graustein focused on geometry, especially in curved surfaces, and helped lead the math department at Harvard. Together, Osgood and Graustein wrote the book "Plane and Solid Analytic Geometry" to give students a clear and solid understanding of geometry using coordinates and algebra.
